È stata una splendida domenica sulla Martesana: caldissima al mattino e ancora piacevolmente calda, nonostante qualche nuvola, nel pomeriggio. Tantissime persone si sono godute il sole e hanno curiosato tra i banchi del Mercatel.
It was a lovely day on the Martesana this Sunday- hot in the morning and still pleasantly warm, though slightly cloudy, in the afternoon. Lots of people came out to enjoy the sunshine, and there were plenty of stalls at El Mercatel for them to browse around.
Trattandosi della domenica prima della Festa della Mamma, avevo preparato una bella varietà di piante e una collezione di biglietti d'auguri a tema. Ecco un piccolo assaggio di ciò che vi siete persi se non siete passati a trovarmi — ma non preoccupatevi: ho già tantissime novità e nuove piantine in crescita che saranno pronte per il prossimo appuntamento tra due settimane, il 17 aprile.
It was the Sunday before Mother's day, so I had a wide range of plants and a collection of greetings cards for the occasion. Here are a few of some of the things you missed if you weren't there - and I've got plenty more both of the same and of new plants coming on for the next session in two weeks time (on April 17th). Una delle cose con cui ho sperimentato durante l'inverno e la primavera è la coltivazione in acqua. Ho ottenuto ottimi risultati con il pothos, l'edera e varie tipologie di tradescantia. È semplicissimo e risolve il problema di quanta acqua dare alle piante: basta cambiarla nel contenitore una volta a settimana, mettersi comodi e guardarle crescere. Al momento ho delle tradescantie radicate sia in terra che in acqua e entrambe sono fiorite proprio ora: adoro quei piccoli e delicati fiori rosa sulle punte dei fusti!
One of the things I've been experienting with over the winter and spring has been growing house plants in water - and I've had great results with pothos, ivy and tradescantia of various varieties. It's so easy - and solves the problems of whether you're underwatering or over watering. Just change the water in the container once a week, sit back and watch them grow. I've got tradescantia rooted in both soil and water at the moment and it's currently in flower. I love the delicate little pink flowers at the tops of the stems.
Inoltre, avevo una collezione di annuali in vaso, perfette per il davanzale: tagete, petunie, begonie e pelargoni. Ovviamente non tutti hanno un giardino o anche solo un balcone, e comprare piantine singole da rinvasare in contenitori più lunghi può sporcare parecchio in casa. Quindi eccole qui, tutte già pronte per essere messe direttamente sul davanzale.I also had a collection of flowering annuals in pots suitable for a windowsill - marigolds (tagetes), petuinias, begonias and pelargoniums. Obviously not everyone has a garden, or even a balcony, and buying individual plants to pot on into longer containers can be messy in the house. So here they are, all ready to go straight onto a windowsill.
Infine, naturalmente non mancava la mia solita collezione di succulente — dall'albero di giada ai cactus, in varie dimensioni — così c’è sempre qualcosa che si adatta allo spazio che avete a disposizione. And of course, there was also my usual all-year round collection of succulents - everything from Jade plants to cacti. I bring them in various sizes - small, medium and large, so there's always something right for the space you have available.
