El Mercatel 2026 – 1° marzo / El Mercatel 2026 - March 1st

Questa domenica è il 1° marzo e questo significa che El Mercatel riparte — come sempre, tempo permettendo. La maggior parte dei siti meteo al momento prevede una giornata nuvolosa ma senza pioggia; l’unica eccezione è il sito dell’Aeronautica Militare, che indica un 30% di probabilità di pioggia al mattino. In ogni caso, finché non piove, io sarò lì come sempre con le mie piante.

This Sunday is March 1st and that means El Mercatel is starting up again - as always, weather permitting. Most websites currently show the day as being cloudy but without rain - the exception being the site of the Aereonautica Militare which gives a 30% chance of rain in the morning. But as long as it's not raining I shall be there as usual with my plants. 

Marzo è il mese delle primule e delle viole del pensiero, e porterò entrambe. Potrete acquistarle singolarmente, già in vaso, oppure singolarmente con la possibilità di scegliere tra diversi cestini in vimini in cui sistemarle.

March is the month for primulas and pansies, and I'll be taking both. You can buy them individually, already potted up, or individually but with a choice of wicker baskets to put them in.

Marzo è anche il mese giusto per iniziare a piantare i semi. Avrò un’ampia varietà di semi sia di fiori sia di ortaggi, da seminare tra marzo e maggio. Nelle ultime settimane li ho testati in casa per verificarne la germinazione e ora mi ritrovo con la casa piena di “piccoli” pronti per essere trapiantati in vaso.

And March is also the month to start planting seeds. I'll have a wide variety of both flower and vegetable seeds to be planted between March and May. I've been testing them indoors for germination over the past few weeks and now have a house full of "babies" waiting to be potted up.

Ci sarà anche la mia consueta collezione di piante da appartamento e piante grasse…

There will also be my usual collection of houseplants and succulents...

…e, visto che manca solo un mese a Pasqua, una selezione di biglietti d’auguri da accompagnare alle uova di cioccolato, alle colombe o a qualsiasi altro regalo abbiate in mente.
