Sunday April 6th / Domenica 6 aprile

Il prossimo Mercatel sarà domenica 6 aprile. È l'unico di aprile, perché la terza domenica del mese è Pasqua – quindi non perdetelo! 

The next Mercatel is on Sunday April 6th. It's the only one in April as the third Sunday of the Month is Easter - so don't miss it. 

Cosa venderò? Avrò un’ampia gamma di piante, perfette come regalo di Pasqua – il coniglietto pasquale non porta solo cioccolato! Ho ancora una selezione di fiori primaverili che dovrebbero continuare a fiorire fino a maggio. Possono essere acquistati singolarmente, ma spesso si trovano in vasi più grandi insieme ad altre piante – come questa combinazione di viole del pensiero e tradescantia. Quando le viole finiscono la fioritura, basta toglierle e sostituirle con altri fiori di colore simile, e il vaso continuerà a essere bello per tutto l’anno.

So what will I be selling? I'll have a wide range of plants and they'd make a lovely a lovely Easter present -  the Easter bunny doesn't only bring chocolate! I've still got a range of spring flowers and they should go on flowering into May. They can be bought individually, but are often in larger pots with other plants - like this mix of pansies and tradescantia. Once the pansies have finished, just take them out and replace them with other flowers of a similar colour, and your pot will go on looking good for the rest of the year.

Don't want a plant? What about one of these lovely scarves with a flower motif?

Anche i miei biglietti d’auguri sarebbero perfetti per Pasqua, oppure potresti usarli come biglietti di ringraziamento per i regali ricevuti. Sono lasciati in bianco all’interno, così puoi scrivere il messaggio che preferisci, e sono ideali per qualsiasi occasione – Pasqua, compleanni, Festa della Mamma, anniversari o qualsiasi altro evento che vuoi celebrare.

My greetings cards would be great for Easter too, or you could use them as thank you cards for presents you've received They're left blank so you can write your own message and are ideal for any occasion. -  Easter, birthdays, Mother's day, anniversaries or any other occasion you want to celebrate.

Cos’altro? Avrò la solita selezione di piante grasse e, dato che ormai la primavera è arrivata, venderò anche alcune delle verdure che ho piantato all’inizio dell’anno. I pomodori non sono ancora pronti, e piante come le zucchine devono aspettare il caldo, ma che ne dici di questi piselli nani? Raggiungono solo un’altezza massima di circa 60 cm, quindi sono perfetti per un vaso sul balcone.

What else? I'll have the usual range of succulents and, as spring is now definitely here, I'll be selling some of the vegetables I planted earlier in the year. The tomatoes aren't ready yet, and plants like the zucchini have to wait for warmer weather, but what about these dwarf peas? They only reach a maximum height of about 60cms, so are great for a container on the balcony.

Or if you want to grow our own, I'll have a large range of flower and vegetable seeds, all ready to be sown in April or May. 

Allora vieni a dare un’occhiata a quello che ho da offrire – e goditi anche il paesaggio lungo la Martesana. I pruni sono ora in piena fioritura e il canale è pieno di paperotti. L’altro giorno ho contato una famigliola di dodici!

So come and have a look at what I've got to offer - and enjoy the sights on the Martesana too. The Prunus trees are now in full bloom, and the canal is full of ducklings. I counted one family of twelve the other day.
