17th March 2024 - Finalmente un po' di sole! / Finally some sunshine!

Dopo tutte le piogge di queste ultime settimane, la primavera è finalmente arrivata e gli ultimi giorni sono stati caldi e soleggiati. Sono stata sulla Martesana quasi ogni giorno ed è stato incantevole. Gli alberi sono in piena fioritura, c'è una famiglia di anatre con sette pulcini, i narcisi negli orti sul lato opposto del canale stanno fiorendo e c'era una tartaruga che si stava scaldando su un ramo caduto in acqua. Quindi, se hai voglia di fare una passeggiata domenica, c'è molto da vedere.

Incluso, ovviamente, El Mercatel. Dopo la cancellazione del primo mercato a causa della pioggia, ci saremo di nuovo domenica e ci saranno molte bancarelle da esplorare.

After what seemed like weeks of torrential rain, spring has finally arrived and the last few days have been warm and sunny. I've been walking on the Martesana most days and it's lovely. The cherry trees are in full bloom, there's a family of ducks with seven chicks,  the daffodils in the allotments on the far side of the canal are flowering and there was a turtle sunning himself on a branch that had fallen into the water.  So if you feel like a walk on Sunday, there's lots to see.

Including, of course, El Mercatel. After the cancellation of the first session due to the rain, we'll be back on Sunday and there should be lots of stalls to browse around. 

Sarò lì con troppe piante e altre cose da elencare qui, ma troverete piante varie, inclusi primule che sono ancora in piena fioritura e stanno ancora producendo nuovi boccioli.

I'll be there with too many plants and other things to list here but some of the highlights are primulas - still blooming well and putting out new buds. 

Poi c'è la violacciocca gialla. Le piante stanno iniziando a fiorire ora e ti daranno molti colori fino all'inizio dell'estate. Ecco come saranno in piena fioritura.

Then, wallflowers - they're just coming into bloom now and will give you lots of colour till the early summer. The photo shows what they'll look like in full bloom.
